When the winter chill is biting, it is easy to consider giving up on style in preference for warmth. Those fleece-lined leggings and Dad’s old college hoodie are looking reallyyyy appealing right now. We get it. But layering on the bulk with care instead of resignation can allow you to experiment with proportions in your outfits. Naturally, warmer clothes are going to involve more volume or coverage, so use that to make an intentional statement.
This week, Paige is making her statement with her faux fur winter coat. Her outfit is all about the volume of the outerwear contrasted against the sleek and sexy leo and skinny jeans underneath. A lot of fabric doesn’t mean the death of sex appeal; go for a sexy silhouette, and still keep warm with some luxurious faux fur. The outfit is styled with statement shades, the Year 2053 bracelet, the Rio del Mar ring in white and and in gray (worn as a midi), and a cheeky pom hat. The finished product is modern, sleek, sexy, and, yes, very warm.
Ashley is staying bundled in a vest layered over her sweater and a long pencil skirt. Where Paige went for volume, Ashley is adding length to her look. Instead of a top that hits at the hips and a skirt that hits at the knee, each piece gets a few extra inches to not only keep out the cold, but also add interest to classic pieces. The result is an elongated torso; we can barely even see that baby bump! Ashley matched Paige with the hat and shades, and styled the outfit with chunky heels and Stella Valle’s Year 2052 bracelet, Brussels bracelet, Rio de Janeiro ring, and Rio del Mar ring.
We know as the temperature drops, inspiration for being your stylish self can decline with it. Who wants to suffer for her fashion in the bitter cold? Not us! So instead, make those winter clothes work for you. Take this time to get creative with your proportions and try out some looks that aren’t your typical silhouette. The temperature might be negative, but you’ll be positively stunning!
Lots of Love,
Ashley and Paige
