Meet Rourke: This month's Woman Warrior cut off 15" of her hair for children battling cancer

Our first Woman Warrior Wednesday nomination goes to Rourke Peralta. When asked what it means to be a Woman Warrior, Rourke responded, “To me, being a Woman Warrior means being strong and powerful, but also being kind and making sure people know they are loved.”

This is exactly the way that Rourke has chosen to live her life. After reading a book about a little boy who was battling cancer, Rourke was compelled to do something to help make a difference. She made the courageous and inspiring decision to donate 15 inches of her hair to an organization that makes wigs for children fighting cancer. In our eyes, Rourke embodies everything it means to be a Woman Warrior.

Pledge:
I made the decision to cut off 15 inches of my hair so that I could donate it to an organization that makes wigs for children battling cancer.
Inspiration:
I read a book about a little boy fighting cancer. It broke my heart, and I knew I had to do something to give back. I decided that instead of donating money, I would donate my hair. It was free and I didn’t need my hair as much as a little kid does. It was the best decision of my life!
